I have a 4 year old Macbook pro that works great though a bit slow and recently has developed a problem. Any mouse hooked up to it will quit working within a few seconds, so the track pad is the only option at present. This machine has the OSX snow Leopard operating system and the soft wear is up to date. I use Firefox for browsing for the most part and suspect it may be somehow responsible. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Have you tried moving the mouse to another USB port? And do you have any mouse enhancement software installed such as "SteerMouse" or some such? I doubt Firefox could be the cause of the problem but if you suspect it, switch back to Safari.

Mouse not working

Yes I've tried my mice in both usb ports, with the same result. Mouse enhancement softwear is something I never heard of but if you suggest it I might give that a try. One other thing, My Adobe Flash needs updating and I hope to do that as soon as I can get to something other than dialup. Maybe that program is causing a problem??
Thanks
