I am selling off my new iBook G4 so I can upgrade to a PowerBook.

That being said, how do I wipe the iBook back to it's original factory settings? I've got the disks and everything, do I just put the DVD in and boot it? Do I need to do anything to get it to boot from DVD?

Thanks in advance!

Pop in the discs, and from the menu bar, select tools-> disk utility.
In Disk utility, select the internal drive of your iBook and click on erase.
(depending on how paranoid you are, select security options and choose to secure erase all previous data on the harddrive).

Then continue to install the entire system and hit command+Q when prompted to enter your personal information.
That puts it back exactly the way a brand-new system is.

You do know about the new Macbook Pro though right?
The successor to the Powerbook?

Thanks! I just want to reset it to factory standards, I've only had it for three weeks, so I never put too much on it yet. I am going to sell it on Ebay, but I wanted it clean before I did.

I've heard of the MacBook - if I can afford it, I am thinking I might go that route. Otherwise, powerbook.

Thanks again
