Hey guys,

I'm having a problem with my Mac Book Pro starting up. I'm running Mac OS X version 10.7.5

It's intel based.

When I boot up, it makes the start up sound, then the apple logo comes on and the wheel spins. Everything normal there. Then when it's time to go to the log in screen, this happens:

A screen full of Grey and multi-colored vertical stripes.
I have to hold the power button for it to turn off because after that screen comes on there isn't really anything to do.

I booted in Safe Mode, which is how I am on this forum.

Any ideas?

If it boots normally in safe mode, that indicates a software problem or program conflict with something else. What have you recently installed or done that could have caused this to happen?

By the way, for info sake: Safe boot removes all third party drivers, startup programs, does a hard drive verify, and removes the sound and some network stuff.
