Hello Mac Community,

I wanted to know how I would connect 2 monitors with vga connectivity to a mac pro HD 5770. (the monitors do not have any DVI ports as they are old DELL monitors)

Would two single Mini Display port to VGA adapters work for dual screen?

Thanks.

Just got to give it a try.:)

Buy the adapters and try them. If it doesn't work...return the adapters.

Time to get some nice newer 22" or larger displays for your Mac Pro...so you can REALLY enjoy it!:)

Thanks Nick for the quick reply.

There not that ancient lol :). Currently, i've got my Mac pro connected to my 42" Samsung LCD tv with the MDP to HDMI which works fantastic, but I require two monitors for my work.

On another note, I've just checked the monitors again to see if its got DVI connectors and guess what, it has.

Would it be better to connect both with the VGA or through DVI?

Thanks.

That's a COMPLETELY different situation if those monitors have DVI as well as VGA!:) The earlier info you posted made it sound like they ONLY had a VGA port...which would make them pretty ancient...possibly even CRT!;)

DEFINITELY DVI. You'll probably get more resolution choices (but you should use LCD monitors on their "native" resolution for best picture quality). You will also probably get better performance with DVI.

I wouldn't even consider using those VGA ports if you have DVI as well.;)

Get yourself a couple adapters...and you're good to go!:)
