Hi everyone. Long time Mac fan here. I've had this software for decades now, I was wondering if it is historical or junk?

It is Word, File, Excel.

Also, I can find NOTHING about File on the Internet.

Those were the very first Microsoft products for the first Mac. I bet someone somewhere would be interested!

And what's even more interesting about that particular MS software is those versions were before MS published them for Windows! ;)

That is very true and sort of funny in a way, but the first 1984 Mac was so far ahead of it's time its amazing. That little white box was amazing for it's time.

Apple had a lot to do with MS really getting exposure as did Altair and IBM with their first PC.

Probably a little bit of both!;) Of course if you can find the right person...they would probably pay you some money for it.

If you're asking the question because you were thinking of getting rid of it. Check out e-Bay for prices (there may not even be any for sale)...or just list it on e-Bay...and see what happens.:)

p.s. BTW...I have the same software as well (on the original floppy disks)...but I don't have the original boxes like you have.

This is what always freaks out unknowing Windows users...who think that the computing world rises & sets on on all the innovations they think are attributed to Intel and Microsoft.

That's only because MS hadn't copied Windows from Apple yet at that point! :D

Thank you for saying that Chas. I would have but felt I would be branded a Fan Boy and hung by a rope! :D

Exactly!:)

1984:

- Macintosh: Graphical User Interface
- Other Personal Computer's: MS-DOS

Although the legal battle kind of came to a different conclusion...we all know what REALLY happened!!!;)

I have a movie that any doubter should watch. It's not some hollywood production either. Gates, Balmer and Jobs and even more important the IBM team that made the first IBM PC are all in the movie and all telling exactly what happened. It really opened my eyes to the truth about the early Microsoft for sure. Tim Patterson of Seattle Computer Products is also in the movie and interviewed on just what MS did.

And then there's the "rumor" that Apple copied the graphical interface from Xerox (PARC) just in case anyone is getting too excited about all of this.

And since the courts did not acknowledge that MS did in fact copy the graphical interface from Apple, case closed. ;)

Charlie, Bah Humbug! :D Grin

I have video of the Xerox Small Talk system showing it's desktop and people using it. It's so far in most ways from the first Mac OS it's crazy. Only the idea was shared with Jobs and his team, not the code or design or schematic diagrams of the computer. Just the basics of the Desktop and mouse interface.

And just to be clear Jobs was INVITED by Xerox to see the Small Talk System as Xerox main company was not even interested in any of the work they did at Xerox PARC. (Palo Alto Research Center.)

As far as courts and the justice system, I had a wonderful Christian friend who was falsely accused and lost everything in the court system yet he was 100% innocent. The truth does not always rain in the justice system!!

Yeah, generally I agree Dennis. Just didn't want chas to get too excited over this and bring up old stuff that's ancient history. BTW, I believe that Xerox at one time was going to sue Apple but backed off. Just goes to show, we have too many lawyers in this world! :p

Oh I agree for sure. Did you see my Fanboy comment above? That was why I did not post any of this before Chas did, as I did not want to be labeled a Fan Boy. I have showed the proof of what I posted above to many and they saw exactly what happened. That does not make Apple god though. There is only ONE GOD and apple sure are not Him! :D

In fact todays Apple is even farther from being a deity then they were at the beginning if you get my point.

I think that Microsoft probably had more money at the time to fight this legal case. And sometimes (with these sorts of legal cases)...he who has the most money & the most high-priced lawyers...wins!!!;)
