i deleted vlc player but each time i double-click the avi file two of them appear

is there a way i can get rid of those two
i used AppCleaner but they still persist
the reason i wanna get rid of them is that i didnt like how it worked recently and plan on downloading and reinstalling it again (as i am fond of using it)
but after i get rid of those two, i am afraid once i install a new one there will appear 3 vlcs on double-click
i know i am making a big deal out of nothing but i am curious how to solve this issue
would appreciate suggestions
