Trash

When i try and empty the trash, there is only the option for securely empty it, which takes ages! There are about 89 files, but when i try to securely delete, the popup says it is deleting more than 10,000 and takes a few seconds to delete only 1 file!

there has to be a way to empty trash but not securely so its faster?!

How are you emptying the trash? Right clicking trash icon in the dock? Opening the trash and hitting erase? Normal emptying of the trash should not be doing the secure delete. What version of OSX do you have there?

You might have an option checked that should not be checked. Go to the Finder and make sure that is on the tool bar up top. Click on Finder and then on Preferences. Once in Preferences click on Advanced. Be sure Empty Trash Securely is not checked!

I used terminal while waiting for a reply and it did it instantly, but i did have the securely empty checked. thanks!
