I own an early Macbook Pro 2011 version.

Currently I have only a 320gb HDD installed so I am looking to upgrade.

I am looking for 750gb or 1000gb/1tb max I want to spend is around £50-£60 as I am open to advice on what to get.

is this a decent model: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3307488617...84.m1423.l2649

Also Another question is, when installing a new HDD and wanting to install a fresh OS installation on to it which I have on my Thumb drive, when pressing the options key whilst the laptop is turning on do you select the picture of the Hard Drive or the Orange flash drive picture?

I know you have to make the whole Hard drive into one partition, but before I'm sure which picture takes me on to the next correct screen?

The reason I am asking is because I cant find the answer anywhere. I do not want to put my current hard drive on to time machine or anything I just want a fresh install on a new hard drive because I will put my current hard drive in an external casing then take what I want from that afterwards.

cheers

That listing is missing, so I don't know what model that is. I personally prefer and recommend Western Digital HDDs. Their "Blue" series would be a good choice.

You select the flash drive picture, IF you have it properly set up to be a bootable installer. If you haven't, well it won't boot anyway.

I don't know about MrPlow, but I've already given you my recommendation. I'm not going to screen every eBay listing for you.

Suggest ducking first eBay sale. That re-certified means second hand and a 30 day warranty is on the nose. Most manufacturers offer a three year warranty minimum. Go to a Mac specialist and hunt up a WD as suggested, Hitachi, Fujitsu, Toshiba or any leading brand and shop around. A 7200 rpm will be a little faster than a 5400.

I agree with Harry and mrplow. Stay away from buying a hard drive on eBay. There's just too many retailers that offer hard drives and a money back warranty instead of dealing with eBay and PayPal.
