hi there…i'd like to replace some of my osx icons to make some organization visually easier..but when i download the new png files i just see the generic png icon (the one with the little boy on the beach and the magnifying glass on top of the picture) instead of each individual picture i download.

any idea why osx isn't recognizing the new icons?

many many thanks!!

Peter

ps. when i double click on the downloaded icon it previews the picture just fine…only when i look at the icon i only get the generic png picture….grrr!! :(

pps. using 10.6.8.

What program are you using to change the icons? Usually you need something like CandyBar, unless you're just changing the icons of individual files. You might also just install Xee, which has greater image support than Preview, plus it has its own icons for images and labels them as PNG, JPG, BMP, GIF, etc.
