I have found that even after I delete a text message that the text shows up in the "search iPhone" or "search ipad" results if I type in the text of the deleted text message.

If I click on it it opens the conversation which doesn't contain the message that showed up in the search results.

So how do I delete the message permanently?

Thanks

Yea just synch your phone or turn iMessage spotlight search off and you're good

If it bothers you turn it off in spotlight search. That thing is most useful for web/wikipedia search anyways.

It's good to synch to keep your phone running fast. And if you need to clear up other data (I'm assuming old messages may fall) do an iTunes backup and restore - iCloud is extremely convenient but it does not defragment the hard drive like an iTunes restore will.
