Hi guys,
A situation has come up that I need your advise on.
I now have a i5 with 8Gb and a 500GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive.
If I keep it, I'm going to put a new Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD in it, and replace the Super Drive with the 500GB Hard Drive I am swapping out.
It needs to be brought up that I haven't purchased the 840 Pro yet, so I still have to spend $200.00 to buy one.
All I'm going to use the MBP for is writing original songs, using Logic, Addictive Drums and eventually a Soft Synth.
The most I will ever record simultaneously is two track at a time, as I will eventually bring what I've recorded at home to a larger Studio to add the additional tracks.
Through my various connections, I have a friend that wants to sell me his mint condition, late 2012 13" MacBook Pro i7 that has 16GB RAM and a 256GB Samsung 830 SSD in it (it never had the 500GB Hard Drive in it).
His i7 will run out of the Apple Warranty in December, and my i5 has two more months on the Apple Warranty and two years of the Full Apple Care Warranty after that.
For the price I can probably get by selling my i5 (without adding the 840 Pro), he's willing to sell me his i7 for basically the same price.
My heads going in circles now!!!
It boils down to (the i5 or the i7) Apple Care, no Apple Care, 8GB RAM or 16GB RAM, a brand new Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD or a used Samsung 830 256GB SSD, etc!!!!
My question is, what would you do (which computer would you go for, and why)?
Thanks!
