My Itunes keeps freezing when i plug in my IPod

My itunes freezes when my ipod plugs in, i have already uninstalled and reinstalled it, removed plugins and reset my ipod but none of theses options have worked and i am still unable to use itunes when an ipod is plugged in. it does not freeze my ipod though
the only thing i haven't done is leave it open for a large period of time. i have had this problem for about 2 weeks.
Please help.

1st thing I'd do would be to try a new cable.

I had that issue before and it was a bad cable try a different cable and a different USB port on the computer. If that does not work then try and reinstall iTunes on the computer that you are using.
