All of a sudden, I get an error message when trying to enter certain data or -worse- saving the Excel workbook (.xlsm; 2.8MB)

In the Windows forum, I got the answer to:

1) Repair disk permissions using Disk Utility and
2) Repair user permissions

which I did (or so I think...)

I still cannot save my workbook.

Any suggestions? I am afraid of losing a lot of data.

P.S. Why is the access to "Disk Utility" so well hidden?

How much system memory do you have? And what other programs are open at the same time you're trying to save the Excel worksheet? The reason I ask is that's a very large worksheet you're editing and trying to save. If you're close to running out of memory, it will give you an error.

4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

We have worked -before- with spreadsheets 1o times as big in Excel. No other applications were running when I tried to save it.

You certainly have enough memory to edit the worksheet and save it. The only other thing I can think of is that there is an error within the worksheet that is causing corruption. Do you have a backup that you can go to?

Take a look at your Office preferences to see that you have turned on "Always make a backup".

In MS Office 2011 for Mac I encountered that out of the blue, I cannot save my workbooks! I receive the error, that I have not enough Memory...

The workbook (.xsml) is a mere 2.9 MB file, I have worked in the past with far bigger sheets.

What kind of memory is that?

I am afraid that I lose a lot of data and worktime.
