OS X 10.6.8 - download a program (like OpenOffice or some such); .dmg appears on my desktop; click it to execute the tile; error message telling me nothing whatsoever about how to find the solution (typical!) shows up:

(for example: [title].dmg is not recognized)
What's going on (or, more to the point, not going on)? Any assistance gratefully accepted.
