Looking For a File Sorting Utility

Hi,

I am looking for a file listing utility that can selectively filter by file endings, e.g., various video file such as *.mov, *.avi,*mp4, etc. I know Karen's in Windows does this, but I have not been able to find a comparable uilility for MAC - and I really do need one for my work. Can anyone suggest such a utility?

You might want to take a look at "TotalFinder" and "XtraFinder". Both utilities offer an enhanced Finder. TotalFinder is $18.00 to buy while XtraFinder is free.

I'm not sure either will do what you want, but I'll let you look them over. I know that there are several real nice utilities for Windows in addition to Karen's stuff. I've used Nico's Commander for years. Wouldn't do Windows without it.

While not saying chscag's suggestions aren't worthwhile, you can do this VERY easily without having to install anything at all! What you want is called "smart folders," though they are not actually folders -- they are saved searches that show you files that meet a given criteria regardless of where they are stored on the drive.
