Hi :)

I have a 1.5 GHz Powerbook G4 12" with a broken optical drive.

Will the laptop run with no drive in the bay if I simply remove it?

Also, (long shot) is there any way of adapting a USB flashdrive to the optical drive plug?

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Yes it will run fine with no optical drive. No for the flash drive as the lead will be ATAPI. For what it is worth PowerPC Macs will not boot from a USB device.

Interesting what would be the point? The PBook has USB2.

I was thinking that it would be nice to find a way of leaving a USB drive inside the laptop, like having a second hard drive.
