Hi, my laptop has been getting REALLY hot lately and I cannot find out what's causing it or why it's happening, could any of these be the problem? If so, how can I fix it? If not what can fix it. Thanks!

Sorry...but the image you posted of your computers ram usage & cpu use is really not so helpful in determining why your Mac is hot.

How about telling us what exact computer model you have...and what sort of temps you're seeing?:)

Folks are concerned about the temp. of their laptops all the time.

Folks that aren't familiar with what temps are "normal" for Apple laptops...may think that the temp of their laptop is high...when in reality...it's actually quite normal.

So again...without specific temp info...it is difficult to determine if your laptops temps are normal or abnormal.

If this is indeed the case, something's not right. Your computer should not burn you since getting to that point should be impossible (it should have shut itself down as a precaution well before then). Did it really cause a burn?

They're normal temperatures. When you burned your finger, what were you doing on the machine, in other words, what programs were you running? Also, make sure you use your MBP on a hard surface, not on your bed or on a carpet.

I play WoW mostly and listen to pandora. And its on a wooden desk always.

Were those temps taken while you were playing WoW? If so...then as chscag mentioned...they are perfectly normal.

If you weren't playing WoW when these temps were taken (and playing WoW is when your laptop gets really hot)...then maybe it would be a good idea to check your temps while playing WoW!;)

I see temps in the range of 90C+ while playing WoW.
That's on my '06 MBP - and still going strong with too many 4-6-8 hour sessions over the years to count.
Start stressing the graphics and the temps are going to spike - nothing abnormal about it.
The aluminum casing on a Mac in the area around the CPU/GPU is going to get a lot warmer than the plastic casing on most other notebooks.

Those temperatures are fantastic (even on the low side if those were taken after strenuous activity like playing a game).

You seem to have an understanding of the importance of hard, clear surfaces for ventilation so I can't imagine that the machine got hot enough to the point of physical damage (to you or the computer).

Yes it was while playing WoW, i guess my follow-up question would be is there a way to make my inactive cpu go down, or what is slowing down my laptop while on WoW, and the internet at the same time?
