OSX 10.7 So I decided to clean up my Desktop to speed things up and created aliases for folders that I use on a daily basis. I believe the aliases don't use up resources as much as having the actual folder reside on the Desktop. So if I generate a new document or spreadsheet and drag and drop that into one of the alias folders, does that new doc also become an alias back to the actual folder?

If you have a folder alias on your desktop, then drop a new file on/in the alias the new file is placed in the ORIGINAL folder location. No new aliases are created at all.

Double-clicking the alias on the desktop opens the ORIGINAL folder with all the files you've placed in it.

Your terminology is a bit twisted around there, but yeah the document will be in the original folder location and you can open it from the folder alias.

Thanks for that explanation - it's something that I've wondered about for a long time.

I'm seeing weird post dates again. Random months, but all in 2009.

EDIT: cleared up when I made this post ????

We had some problems with the server the other night which messed up times and in some cases the date of the post. It was actually logging folks off and on again numerous times. We finally hired an exorcist to cast out the demons and now everything is back to normal. ;P
