Flat Panel G4 LCD screen has gone bad

The screen of my flat panel imac (lamp design) went bad a few months ago. It appears completely washed out, with no contrast. I was able to whip it into something tolerable using the calibration tool, but it's still pathetic compared to my Dell laptop LCD. The backlight is fine, almost too bright. I replaced the LCD inverter board following someone's advice, but it made no difference. Someone else suggested that the logic board went bad, which just too expensive to repair. Any suggestions? Can I kick it in just the right way to cure this illness?

Have you tried creating a new user account and logging on with that to see if it has the same washed out appearance? (Just to rule out it is not the account, as I have seen something similar before and it turned out to be corrupt settings in the main account.)
