So how exactly does this work? If you're at the passcode screen how would you use this new update to bypass it?

It's a fix to a security flaw that could allow someone to bypass your passcode screen. Not a tool to help you bypass your passcode screen.

I guess I need to grab this one. Seems like it takes forever to download and install an iOS update even when on a fast WiFi connection like I have.

If you're getting it to protect against the passcode bypass, you'll be wasting your time (see here). ;)

I updated anyway. Not really concerned about breaking into my iPhone, much less anyone else trying to.
