My wife has a new macBookPro and swears she didn't set a password but when prompted to log in, inserting no password doesn't work. Does anyone have a work around?

If she has a new MacBook Pro and has forgotten the password, here's how to reset it:

First, you need to reboot your computer while holding the Command and the R keys down. That will boot the Mac into Recovery.

Once your Mac boots, you’ll see a window with various options. Use your mouse to select Terminal from the Utilities menu, and Terminal will launch.

Type in resetpassword

You’ll see a dialog box that will let you do just that. Choose the user you want to change the password for, and type in the new password twice. Hit OK, close the reset password window, and reboot your Mac.

And, next time write it down somewhere..... ;)

I'm not sure you are allowed to set a blank password anymore ... that's just ASKING for malware, not to mention identity theft ...
