My family has two MacBooks that I can choose from, Early 2008 MacBook Pro and a late 2009 Macbook. I just need some help on deciding which one I want for myself. The 2008 MBP has 2GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM, Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT 256 MB, a 60GB SSD, 15", Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz processor. The 2008 MB has a 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8GB 1067 MHz DDR3 RAM, Nvidia GeForce 9400M 256MB, 13", with a terrabyte drive and soon to be data doubled with a 120GB SSD. I am a game developer/videographer and my question is, which is better for gaming and speed?

I was just making sure, because I read that the 8600M GT had dedicated RAM whereas the 9400M uses integrated graphics.

The MacBook Pro has better graphics. As you stated, it uses a dedicated GPU whereas no model MacBook up until the last one before they were discontinued, use dedicated graphics. All MacBook models share graphics memory with system memory.

However, your 2008 MacBook Pro is one of the models that suffers from sudden GPU failure. It was a defect with the nVidia chipset. Apple had a special warranty program going for them in which they would replace the logic board, however, that program is now over.

My advice: Neither machine is a good choice for game development or video. But if that's all you can afford, go with the MacBook Pro and keep your fingers crossed. Be sure to update the memory and hard drive in the MacBook Pro first.
