Wi-fi keeps cutting out.

I've recently switched to a new ISP (Rogers, in souther Ontario), and my iMac's internet connection keeps going bunk. AirPort shows full reception, but data flow just...stops (downloads halt, webpages stop loading or don't load, Dropbox/Google Drive disconnects, torrents halt, etc.)

I can remedy this by switching AirPort off and then on again, but that's a hassle if I'm dealing with lengthy/large downloads/uploads. And I know this to be a problem specific to my iMac, because my iPhone 4s and ancient Windows XP laptop do not share this issue.

My iMac is on OSX 10.7.5, if that matters.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes; the old ISP's modem didn't have a built-in wireless router, so we coupled it with a Netflash one or something. The new ISP's modem has the wireless built in.

So in all likelyhood it's a router setting.

To start with make sure your wifi is set to wpa2 and also I'd use a tool like iStumbler to help choose a clear wifi channel.

Once set, restart the router and try again

Will try. To clarify again, this is only a problem with my iMac; my iPhone and Windows machine are fine all the time. So hopefully this clears it up for this machine!

This seems to be a common problem with macs. Im not trying to hijack the thread but my mcbook pro, mid 2010, has the same issue. about 2-5 minutes of connection then nothing. only way to get it back is disable wirless and re-enable it. Ill try the above suggestions.

Welp, in the case of the OP, I think it's a pretty clear cut case of wireless signals stomping on one another and probably unrelated to the Mac itself. I've had my MacBook Pro connected to a Citrix XenDesktop VDI (which requires a very stable, low-latency connection) via WiFi for 24+ hours straight with nary a hiccup, so I highly doubt it's anything germane to the Mac.
