Guys,

I have a 2011 MacBookPro 8,1 i7 13". Running 10.8.2

I would like to add an external monitor/screen. What should I be looking for? Size? Resolution?

Comments and advise would be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Kinnie

The specs for your MBP suggest that you can get a monitor with a resolution as high as 2560x1600. And as far as size is concerned, that entirely depends on what your needs and budget are..

If you have the money and space, you can go for a 30" monitor..:)

Before answering this question, the first thing we need to know is: how are your eyes?

Some 25-year-old with razor-vision is going to be perfectly happy with a 20" monitor at 3000x4000. But not a 60-year-old.

If you're comfortable with the native resolution of the 13" MBP you're working on (1280x800), then you could probably work comfortably at somewhat higher resolution on a larger screen: say 1920x1080 on a 21-to-27 inch monitor.

The big thing is that you want something that is set at its NATIVE resolution and yet is COMFORTABLE to work with.
