Recently, there has been a rather silent but important story floating around about an odd bug built into Cocoa (OS X’s application programming interface that, in part, includes the user interface elements of OS X including things like buttons and text boxes). This has been fixed in the 10.8.3 betas. Now if they'd just release 10.8.3 ... :)

Absolutely. As I noted, this bug appears to have been fixed in the 10.8.3 betas floating around. I just brought this up as a piece of interest more than anything.

Evidently, it also doesn't happen if you have system-wide autocorrect turned off.

Yeah, the bug is tied to the autocorrect functionality. I tried to decipher the "nerd speak" but the bug has something to do with the autocorrect system running into a wall since it doesn't know how to parse what might be a file URI.
