disk drive won't eject

Hi,

The disk drive on my macbook won't eject. Matshita DVD-R UJ857. The last time I put in a disk it worked fine but when I tried to eject the disk it wouldn't come out. I could hear the drive working, but the disk stayed put. After several tries it finally, sort of weakly, ejected the disk.

The backstory is that a while ago I spilled lemonade on the computer. Real, acidic, sticky lemonade. I did all the things instructed in your "spilled liquids" thread and took it to a repair shop. They flushed it and replaced the keyboard.

I use the drive so infrequently that I really don't know when the problem started. So I'm wondering if this could be more lemonade trouble and what I should do about it. Is it possible that more flushing would cure it? The repair shop sold me a can of anti-static spray cleaner, should I spray that into the drive?

I need to update the OS from 10.5 to 10.6 and as far as I can tell I need the disk drive to do that. Help?

Thanks!

Spills are very unpredictable with problems popping up long after the spill occurred. While it's hard to say the lemonade caused the drive to malfunction, I wouldn't spend money repairing it. Buy an inexpensive external optical drive and use it instead. Also save your $$ for a new computer. Don't waste any more money on the one you have.

Thanks! I'll look into the optical drive route. A new computer simply isn't in the cards, and I can't do without one, so this one it will have to be!
