External Microphone has stopped working!!

First try resetting the PRAM: See this LINK
If that doesn't work, do a SMC reset: Shut your iMac down and remove the AC plug from the wall socket. Let it set that way for 10 minutes. Plug it back in and boot up. With some luck, the mike will work again. Also make sure the input jack is not switched off - check sound settings.
