Welcome to Mac-Forums

What were you using for Wireless access with Comcast? I switched from Comcast to FiOS as well and had an Apple Extreme that was used with my Comcast network, I kept that the same with FiOS. I just disabled the wireless in the FiOS router and use it as just as a router..

Though, you say wired is also an issue. How does the issue manifest itself? Unable to access webpages? Do you lose your IP address as well?

Call Verizon and ask for assistance. If they came to your home and installed the fiber optics and LAN hookup, they should have brought you up on line - wireless. I can't believe that they left you cold after installing equipment.
