Disk Utility Error.

Hi There.

Wanted to ask if anyone can give me some advice on the following error. While I'm running Disc Utitlity and reparing permissions after doing the run of the mill software updates, the progress bar gets about half way while reparing and a little window pops up. It reads: "Disc Utility has lost its connection with the Disc Management Tool. Please quit and relaunch Disc Utitlity"....however I have tried relaunching and the problem still persists. Any advice will be appreciated.

This is a problem with Panther. The fix is to drag itunes 6.02 out of your applications folder and onto the desktop and now you should be able to repair permissions without problems.

Once finished, you can put itunes back into your applications folder - you will have to do this everytime.

However, the fix so you do not have to do this everytime and leave your itunes in applications is to launch finder and navigate to HD>Library>Receipts and then put all iTunes .pkg files EXCEPT for iTunesX.pkg and iTunesPhoneDriver.pkg in your trash bin and delete from trash.

If you are connecting to the internet via airport, then you may experience that you are unable to connect after doing the above and repairing permissions. This is because the 'airport keychain permission' window activates (for about 2 seconds) and you need to press the 'approve all' button.

You can also approve all via keychain if you do not manage to hit the button in time. AFAIK, doing the first method of dragging itunes onto the desktop from the applications folder does not cause a problem with airport :)

Hi

Would you happen to have a fix for the same problem in 10.4.4?
Tried logging in as root.
Tried trashing "Chess"
Tried putting iTunes on the desktop...
