External drive ejecting itself

external drive is constantly ejecting itself and giving me an improperly ejected error. The computer then freezes and has to be turned off and back on. I'm on a MacBook Pro. Is this happening to anyone else?

I see this has been happening to many but does anyone have a fix?

Likely a problem with the drive itself. Have you tried another external hard drive to see if it's doing the same thing? Also, have you used Disk Utility to verify the drive?
