how to transfer media to iphone from macbook?

so frustrating, l thought it'd be as easy as an android phone to a pc.
l tried bluetooth transfer from mac to iphone but it can't send it and it says on my mac that the iphone "doesnt have necessary devices"??
l heard you use itunes, but no luck. l should be grateful if someone can show me step to step how to do or recommend a software that allows ease of transferring mp3's photos and vids.

You have to set up all your syncing preferences in iTunes with the iPhone connected (wirelessly or wired - doesn't matter).
