Can anybody recommend a straightforward synchronisation app for OSX? This will be used for updating media files to an external drive (in addition toTime Machine and Super Duper).
Unless I'm getting it completely wrong it seems impossible to copy only new files from one folder to another in Finder.

If you only want to copy over updated/new files between two directories, you're looking for rsync. Check out rsync + Automator = free and easy backups for your Mac — Practically Efficient and Using rsync to Keep Your Files in Sync | Mac|Life to see what rsync is about and how to use Automator to help you.

Also look at Download arRsync for Mac - GUI for rsync utility. MacUpdate.com for a GUI to rsync to ease in setting up the backup.

That looks like exactly what I want, especially if arSync is as simple as it claims. Many thanks Ashwin.
