I am going back to college and starting in the summer session this May. I am going to school for a media studies program. The program is a 2 year program that covers: web design, graphic design, videography, photography, with some communiciations/pr/marketing courses. Per the orientation package received we'll be using Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Fireworks, Flash, DreamWeaver, Illustrator, and InDesign. We'll be using CS6, and Office, plus some additional design programs. We're required to get a computer that meets the standards for CS6.
I want a laptop that is:
Lightweight (as light as possible) since I'll be traveling by public transit daily to and from school for about 2-3 hours per day.
Meets the requirements for CS6
Could possibly meet the requirements for CS7 once it's released (so I guess an extra 2GB of RAM?)
Can last me the duration of the 2 year program, but an additional 1 or 2 afterwards for freelancing as web designer before needing an upgrade.
I was thinking of getting a macbook air due it being lightweight, but would that work? Would I need to get a pro instead? A macbook air/pro + iMac? I'd like to pay under 2500 if possible (I'll only go over if necessary). I'm eligible for the 10% student discount.
Thanks
