Can't Install Office 2008 on OS X 10.6.8

Hi,

I am trying to install Office 2008 on a Mac running OS X 10.6.8. Every time I try to run the installation it gets to the writing files stage and stops and shows the following error.

The installation failed. The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail.

I have tried installing this as a new user and whilst booted in Safe Boot Mode. There is no anti virus running either.

Any ideas what could be stopping this installing.

Any help with this would be amazing.

Are you installing Office 2008 from the original CD? And it would help if you could post the installer log so we could see where it encountered the error.
