I'm looking forward to the Belkin dock, even at $200+ but until it comes out, I need a temporary solution. Is there any reason this wouldn't work?...

Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter

Ethernet (male) to USB (female) adapter

As crude as it may be, this essentially would turn a Thunderbolt port into a USB port capable of running a mouse or keyboard...right? I haven't tried it yet but plan on it, depending on feedback from this thread.

You can't go "ethernet to usb" - that's not going to work.
The signal has to be converted from ethernet to usb - there is no converter, that I am aware of, that will do this.
Any adapter you find such as the above is a scam.

Just get a powered USB hub if all you need are additional USB ports.

(There are "usb to ethernet" adapters.)
