iChat audio -- unable to hear sequences when screen sharing with iMacs

i am trying to listen to FCP sequences on other iMacs linked via a optical network. I can see the screens in screen sharing, but cannot hear the audio.... we switched both system prefs and iChat prefs to internal mic, no luck. Any advice?

This works, btw, when linking to a user working on a MacPro with Kona card selected.
