Dell external speakers (nothing works)

G5 Tower
Plug them in to my emac and imac and nothing, tried the dust destroyer spray and still nothing, also went to sounds input and output, cant understand, but they did work on another guy's laptop, anybody know anything i dont would be helpful , thx

I Mac 27-inch 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5 24GB ram. MacBook Pro 13-inch 2.5GHz dual-core Intel i5 16GB ram
The Output should be set to "Headphone port" in System Preferences
