iPad 2 Charging Problems

My 10month old iPad2 is not able to be recharged.Have used Apple recharging unit and USB cable connection to iPad - does not charge even after o/night and also tried USB connection to iMac.same result.
Tried holding down Start button and Home button only get Battery logo completely Black except for orange flashing line at bottom of Battery but this disappears after about 3 seconds.

If it still won't charge after a hard reset it's time to make a genius appointment and back to an Apple store before your year warranty is up
