Macbook from 2010 connected to charger but not charging and is coming up as not conne

Hi okay so all of a sudden my computer wont charger , I dont think its the charger consider the fact that when i connect the charger to my computer it first turns green then orange for a few seconds then off. My computer died because it hast been able to charger but i was able to get it alive for a few minutes, i looked at the mac information and it said
AC charger
Connected : No
Charging: No

can someone help me out please?

That same thing happened to my girl's mac and it was the battery... we had replaced the charger at first and that hadn't worked so I got this cheap off-brand battery for $25 bucks on Amazon and Presto, she's charging up like all cool and what-not.
