Running FCP 6 under Leopard through Parallels in Mountain Lion

A friend currently uses FCP 6 under 10.5.8 on an old 15" MacBook Pro. He intends to buy a new MacBook, and wants to continue using FCP 6. The local Apple Store told him he could run FCP 6 under Leopard through Parallels in Mountain Lion. Would FCP would take a hit speed wise, or will it run satisfactory as on his current 2.4 GHz 2007 MBP?

I'm not so sure that Leopard can legally be run virtually from Mountain Lion. Take a read of the following MacWorld Magazine article and draw your own conclusion: LINK

Beyond any legality, man, the speed hit you would see would be maddening. You would really be better served to save up and either get a later version, or just use iMovie. Maybe look into Avid (is it Pinnacle Studio now?)
