I have the first generation iPad with version 5.1.1. I have tried to update to 6.0 but it said my iPad is up to date with the latest version.

Certainly I can update to 6.0? I have several apps that no longer work because they require 6.0 or higher.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

iOS6 does not apply to the iPad1.

I get the same message on mine.

iPad 4 was released late last year and in comparing it's capabilities to the first iPad is quite staggering. Due to that, the newer versions of iOS are being restricted to the newer versions of iPad. I imagine that even my iPad 2 will be left out of running when iOS 7 comes out..

It is a little annoying that app developers are arbitrarily choosing to support iOS 6 and above since iOS 5 is still running on many older devices. I imagine they don't want to do the extra work of having devices running both iOS 5 and iOS 6 for testing..
