I've recently had an update on my computer, and have found as a result that the direction of scrolling when I use the mouse has reversed. So I want to get back to what it was beforehand. I'm told that you go to System Preferences, then the mouse & then take things from there. I've tried that, so far to no avail. I'm sure I'm missing something very simple. Any suggestions?

That would be the place. You are looking for an option for 'Scroll Direction (Natural)' - uncheck that.

Thanks. What comes up when I get to the relevant box, is a list of mouse scroll functions, e.g. Wheel Up or Wheel Down. But no "Scroll Direction (Natural)" I've selected Wheel Up & Wheel Down, and then "Restore Defaults", but it doesn't change anything!
