? Never tried.

Why not just rent it on your Mac to start with if that's where you want to watch it?

Actually I started watching the movie on on my HDTV, later I wanted to continue watching on my macbook. Home share will go from PC to TV but Apple TV does not seem to be available on mac?

Unfortunately I don't think you can. I understand that rentals are not transferrable between devices and you will have to pay another rental.

It is however different for movies that you buy.

You can buy movies and TV shows on the Apple TV , or you can buy on your Mac or other iOS device and later watch on your Apple TV.

If you have an iCloud account, you can purchase TV shows and movies directly from the Apple TV (3rd Gen)—and later download and watch them on your other iCloud-enabled devices.
