I would like to purchase a new mac mini, can i use my older imac G4 as a monitor only for it, or will it run on the old G4's slow processor? what about the old G4's firewire? will it be compatible with the mini's?

but will it run on the slow G4's processor? or just be a simple screen for the mini? the only reason i would like to use the imac's screen is to save space...the G4 is in almost pristine condition...but slow as **** and i want to keep it for nostalgic purposes, haha. i also use a macbook but it's going to be replaced soon too.

All G4's are now as slow as you describe. Lot of progress since those days and do as louishen suggests and invest in an LCD screen. They are pretty cheap.
