Boot Camp - partitioning

Mac 10.6.8; want to partition so I can load Windows XP; when I use boot camp, are all my files/programs removed on the OS X side and will I have to rebuild all that, or do they stay intact? Thanks.

When you partiton for Windows via Bootcamp, your Mac OS will stay as it is on the Mac side, with the only downfall of loosing valuable HD space. Nothing will be touched in other words !!
