I searched the threads but was unable to find answer to this question. Can you change out STA hard drive for digital hard drive at a later date on a Mac Book Pro? If you can Is it worth it and what are the pluses and minuses of doing so?

"STA hard drive", "digital hard drive"??? Do you mean Seagate and Western Digital? There are many folks that swap out the HDD that came with the MBP to a SSD, so I imagine changing HDD brands is no problem..

The newer iMacs have some firmware that's associated with the HD that makes it not a trivial swap out to ensure that the fans and other thermal management doesn't freak out..
