Printer not in Print & Scan

I added a printer on a remote host with lpadmin. It shows up in lpstat, I can send print jobs to it, etc. Everything works... but it does not show up in System Preferences, Print & Scan. Looking for ideas...

Answering my own question for the archives...

Turns out I needed to specify the PPD in this case. It looks like the particular printer here (Xerox Phaser 6700DN) may be especially sensitive to that. But if anyone else sees the same issue, explicitly point to a PPD, even a generic one, and see if that helps.
