Back to My Mac allows youth access files stored on your Mac from somewhere outside your network. You can also use it to access the screen assuming things are set up properly.This guide should clear things up. It discusses MobileMe (iCloud's predecessor) but the principles are the same.

Unfortunately I didn't dictate that one. Just horrible typing on my part. I've been doing less dictating recently. My wife and I are in the same computer room and the constant jabbering drives her nuts.
