Hello,

I have an external Maxtor drive I used with my windows PC. It works fine on my PC but when I plug it into my Macbook Pro (main computer) it does not show up.

The drive is plugged into my mac via a usb port on the computer not a usb hub.

How do I get it to show up so I can transfer files from my old PC to my mac?

Suggest you try another USB cable - for troubleshooting.
And - does the drive show up in Disk Utility?

Can you give us the brand and model number of the hard drive and enclosure? Maybe there's a known issue with the drive controller in that case.

Seems odd that it's detected on USB but not in Disk Utility.

Was it ejected cleanly on the PC? Worth reconnecting, running a disk check, clean eject and try again on the Mac

I figured out the problem. I had a security passcode for it set up on my PC and when I disabled it on the PC and then brought the drive over to my Mac it showed up.

Thanks for all your help.
