• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I'm trying to record someone speaking via Facetime from their iPhone to my Mac.
Is their anyway to reduce latency? Instead of wifi to wifi, would a landline from my Mac help? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Connect by ethernet cable.

Use an audio only app to cut down on bandwidth usage

Use the iPhone in a very high signal area or on good quality wifi

How can I improve Macbook wi-fi?

I have a 2009 Macbook. Is their any device or upgrade I can add to it to improve Facetime video call sessions? I'm not looking for inexpensive solutions, I need it improved for work. Something that might help with latency, speed or quality for when I'm traveling. Thanks

There are too many variables when traveling to try to pinpoint improving a FaceTime call. A FaceTime call depends mostly on the connection which exists from the caller to the received end. Unfortunately, not all hotels, motels, and other visitor hostels use good quality hardware. Most are like trying to make a FaceTime call from Starbucks. You might try carrying along an Apple Airport Express with you to help extending the connection, but whether that will improve the call depends mostly again on the initial connection.

Threads merged. Same topic...same issue. It's always best to continue posting in the same thread...especially since the earlier thread/post contains information that helps explain the situation more clearly.

Thanks,
